It's our birthday!
Celebrating two years of Curious Reading Club.
I’m gearing up to announce and ship out May’s selection at the end of the week, and—as is typical every month—I’m amazed we’re almost about to turn another page on the calendar. How does time pass so quickly?
But this month feels particularly vertigo-inducing, since it marks another notable date: in May it will be two years since we sent out our very first books for Curious Reading Club.
Two years! That’s twenty-four titles, plenty of amazing stories, gripping writing, brilliant ideas… and a whole lot of authors. We’ve covered everything from biology to geopolitics, from AI to true crime, from outer space to our environment, and many more things in between. We’ve had deep reporting, big ideas, and personal memoir.

Two years in.
So I just wanted to take a moment to appreciate you.
Maybe you’re a current member, a previous subscriber, or somebody who’s Curious-curious. Perhaps you’re just somebody who likes to read the newsletter from time to time. Some of you have been around since the very beginning, some of you only just joined, but there are almost 70 of us now. This group is not the biggest subscription service in the world, but it’s pretty big for a book club (although we don’t all sit around drinking tea or chatting about the books we read over a glass of wine: it’s not that kind of book club.)
And, as you may know, I don’t do this thing for profit: it’s a hobby that helps me share great work by writers who deserve more appreciation.
But without you all, it’s nothing.
You’ve not just helped support dozens of terrific authors and bring more light to fantastic books, but you’ve given me lots of ideas and recommendations along the way. It’s helped me broaden my own reading, improve the selections we make, and think hard about what writing really connects with people and why.
Thanks, and here’s to more anniversaries in the future.
Onwards
Bobbie
